Robert Arnold Naugler

Robert was born the 26th of May, 1922 in Framingham, Massachusetts the youngest of five children born to Stephen and Beatrice Naugler. Robert was a talented singer and was a member of the Marlboro Male Choir. He graduated from Marlborough High School class of 1939 and obtained a scholarship to Suffolk Law School. He enlisted into the Army Air Corps the 25th of June 1942. He received his initial training as an air cadet in Nashville, Tennessee before training at Maxwell Army Air Field where he received his wings as a Pilot. He spent time training at Walnut Ridge Army Air Base where he perfected his craft at piloting aircraft.
Robert was ultimately assigned to the 325th Bombardment Squadron of the 92nd Bombardment Group. Based at RAF Podington in England Robert served as a co-pilot aboard a B-17 bomber aircraft flying numerous bombing missions over Germany. He was awarded an Air Medal on the 1st of Apri, 1944. On the 4th of November, 1944 the aircraft that Robert was co-pilot of was shutdown while on a bombing mission to Hostalingen-Kathendorf, Germany resulting in the deaths of six of her eleven crewman including Robert. His remains were repatriated to the United States in 1949 and he is buried at the Rural Cemetery in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Naugler avenue in Marlborough is named in his honor.
