Valmore was born in 1926 in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the fourth of five children born to Montrose and Laura Beauregard. Valmore, known as Red to friends and family was a 1943 graduate of the local vocational school. He made his home with his parents at 312 Mechanic Street in Marlborough. He enlisted into the Navy the 10th of February, 1944 and following basic training was assigned as a Fireman 2nd Class with a specialty in diesel engines. He shipped out to the pacific aboard the USS GENERAL JOHN POPE (AP-110). He was assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 16 in August of 1944. He was promoted to Fireman 1st Class the 1st of November, 1944.
Valmore was assigned to PT-300 and on the morning of 18 December 1944, was on patrol near Mangarin Bay off San Jose on Mindoro Island, Philippines when the vessel was spotted by Japanese bombers and attacked. One of the bombers made a low attack and chose to crash the aircraft into the boat causing the vessel to split in half. PT-300 was one of only a handful of PT boats sunk by Kamikaze attack during the war. Four of the sixteen crew were killed outright with four others missing in action. Valmore was one of the men missing in action and declared dead later that day. His name is on the Tablets of the missing at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in Manila, Philippines. A cenotaph is located at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Beauregard Circle in Marlborough is named in his honor.
