Rennie David Boulay

Rennie was born the 10th of May 1924 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, the youngest of eight children born to David and Josephine Boulay. He lived in Marlborough with his family as a young man before moving to Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He enlisted into Navy the 4th of December, 1941 and following his basic training at Naval Training Station Newport Rhode Island, he was assigned to the USS INGRAHAM (DD-444) as an Apprentice Seaman the 2nd of January 1942. The INGRAHAM performed convoy duty in the North Atlantic during the early parts of 1942. Rennie was promoted to Seaman 2nd Class the 4th of April 1942.
Rennie and his shipmates continued on convoy duty and Rennie was again promoted to Fireman 3rd Class the 16th of June, 1942. While escorting convoy T-20 from Halifax, Canada the INGRAHAM collided with the USS CHEMUNG (AO-30) on the 22nd of August, 1942. The vessel sunk almost immediately and any men in the water were victims of the ships depth charges which exploded after the vessel sank. Only eleven members of the crew survived. Rennie was officially listed as missing in action and his name is memorialized on the East Coast Memorial in Manhattan, New York.
